Is CBD legal in Portugal?

The decriminalization of all drugs in Portugal occured in 2001, though the circumstances behind this choice is tragic. Due to an overdose crisis and the highest rate of HIV infections among drug users in all of Europe, the Portugese government knew they needed to make changes. They replaced severe punishments with fines or treatment, saving countless lives.

So, that’s the good news. Unfortunately, due to European Union’s novel food regulation in 2018, recreational CBD is no longer available for external use. CBD is still legally permissible for medical use with a doctor’s prescription (though it can not be cultivated by individuals).

 

Can I travel (fly or drive) with CBD into Portugal?
